David Saunders MBE (1937 -2023)

David was a lifelong naturalist and long-term member of the BTO. He was the first warden of Skomer Island from 1960 to 1967 and was director of the West Wales Naturalists Trust from 1976 to 1994. As his family we have many happy memories of accompanying David on numerous working parties in nature reserves and on his guided walks. In 2018 he took 3 generations of the family back to Skomer for the day. As one of the messages received said ‘Pembrokeshire will not be the same without him'.
