My wonderful husband, Allan, sadly passed away unexpectedly in 2021. He had a lifelong passion for birds and kept detailed records of his sightings. Allan was incredibly thorough and wouldn’t be satisfied to just hear a bird, he had to see it to validate his identification was correct. We would often go on birdwatching trips together up and down the country. Allan was a much-valued supporter of BTO and gave many hours of volunteer time surveying birds. One of Allan’s birdwatching highlights during his life was to find a Fregetta Petrel at Severn Beach, Avon in 2009, proven to be the first British record of this genus. Allan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Penny
