Mavis Jones

Mavis joined BTO in 1988. Her love of birds stemmed from walks with her dad and she always had binoculars close by. She taught and loved travel, going on a 1950's school exchange to New Zealand. She and her husband Douglas encouraged younger generations in nature and science and were immensely proud when their son Kevin became a Professor of Environmental Science. In retirement they birdwatched in the UK, Europe and beyond. At home, as a BTO Garden BirdWatcher, she submitted 8827 sightings.
